Fire Fighters Quick Actions Saves Home

At around 7:45 Tuesday evening homeowners at 211 Sunny Wood Ln. reported a structure fire on their property. Within 9 minutes South Hays Fire crews arrived to find a 1,900 sq ft single story building with heavy fire through the roof, within five feet of the main home. Fire crews used a blitz attack to halt the progress of the fire and to protect the main home from damage. "Fighting fires without the availability of fire hydrants is difficult and problematic at best,” said Chief David Smith. "Our Fire Fighters chose the right tactic at the right time and the end result was they saved the main home" he said. The fire building was used as a storage/apartment for the family and was a total loss. Eleven Fire Fighters from South Hays and 2 Fire Fighters from Kyle Fire Department fought the fire. The cause is under investigation.
